I have worked at various fruit and vegetable farms around the state of Maine since the spring of 2020. I spent a summer at a homestead/blueberry operation up in Washington county, a winter growing brassicas in California, then a year in the Bangor area at a diversified vegetable operation with some chickens, then a year at a no-till farm in the Portland area. I am currently working at a diversified vegetable farm on Mt. Desert Island, where I hope to settle down with my partner, Nikki, who works for Friends of Acadia.

It would be helpful to have access to small tractor or BCS, but I can rent for the little bit I need to get started.

I intend to start a no-till diversified vegetable farm primarily earning revenue through CSA and wholesale. I intend to offer a free choice CSA with u-pick herbs and flowers for CSA members. I am planning on starting on a half acre in year one with about 30 CSA members and naturally grow from there. I would love to have the option for CSA members to visit the farm, but understand if that is not workable within a lease if the land fit is right. As my business gets going, I plan to grow strawberries and blueberries and establish an apple/pear orchard. I want to grow my CSA until the land space I am on is comfortably used and I can keep a balanced lifestyle with a healthy revenue stream.
