Past and present farming experience:

Experience/Background: I am a recently retired Naval Officer & helicopter pilot. Before I retired, I did a five-month, part-time internship at Wild Willow Farm & Education Center in San Diego, California. The focus there was small-scale, intensive, regenerative, and organic crop production. Following my retirement, I completed a one-year internship with Greg Judy at Green Pastures Farm in Clark, Missouri. There I utilized rotational mob-grazing management of separate groups of 300 beef cattle and 150 hair sheep. Also during my internship in Missouri I volunteered with two tenant farmers of Green Pastures Farm, Alex and Bobbi of Blind Star Farm, assisting with 500 pastured laying hens and a yearly production of 50 forest-raised pigs. My family and I will be taking a break from full-time RV living and renting a house in Camden Maine from Oct 2019 to May 2020 to explore the different farming regions, communities, and churches throughout Maine.

Here is a summary of the vision for my farming future and/or business plan:

Our vision and goals are to raise livestock for direct-to-consumer, restaurant, and wholesale account sales in a multi-species, regenerative system. Eventually, we would like to add hospitality (RV sites or cabins), events (educational, U-pick, hosted events, and seasonal farm events), and an on-farm store for additional revenue and complimentary marketing. With a young and growing family, we seek to carry on the traditions of stewardship in a God-honoring manner that will allow our entire family to participate and benefit from the experience and work involved with wholesome food production.
