I have an undergraduate degree in Horticulture/Agronomy and 20 years of experience running a small garden maintenance business. I have interned at both a public garden and a biodynamic farm. I am 5 months into a year long internship with Wild Seed Project, an organization in Maine that is working to promote the awareness, appreciation and propagation of native plants. I have also completed Wild Seed Project's seed class and am in the third year of spearheading the development of a food forest at Viles Arboretum in Augusta.

My goal is to create a homestead that allows me to live lightly on the planet. After the purchase of land, I plan to build a small off-the-grid home and barn, expand my native plant nursery and grow as much of my food as possible in both traditional garden beds and a food forest. I may also, eventually, provide a home to a small number of farm animals in need of a place to live out their life. I am seeking land that contains roughly 3 acres of open space for my house and the nursery which consists of perennials, shrubs and trees. Most sales will be retail. I plan to grow some of my stock in ground and to plant extensive display gardens. Income from the nursery will be supplemental to what I earn off the farm.
My idea of the perfect piece of land is one that used to have a house on it, still has some of the old trees, is partially open and partially wooded and is not near a busy road. I really value quiet.
