Past and present farming experience:

We are two sisters (Lana and Sara) with five years of running our farm business as Cannons at Noon Family Sheep Farm in addition to two years of apprenticeships before we launched our business. We both were MOFGA journeypersons in our first to years of business, and continue to attend as many farming workshops and conferences as possible. Cannons at Noon Farm is certified organic by MOFGA. We currently lease from our aunt in Springvale, Maine. We work alongside Jean(our aunt) in raising a flock of approximately 140 sheep, and cultivate four acres of diversified vegetables, herbs and cut flowers. We milk 56 of our ewes for soft cheese production. We tap 30 trees for a small maple syrup operation and are currently raising 60 hens for egg production.

Here is a summary of the vision for my farming future and/or business plan:

Our mission is to produce quality organic, nutritious food for our family and community using sustainable farming practices that promote a healthy ecosystem, growing business, and fulfilled, balanced farmers. In order to provide for our needs, we will produce vegetables, cut flowers, lamb, cheese, fiber, eggs, and maple syrup sustainably, efficiently, and profitably. Our wholesome products will be accessible and affordable to our local and regional communities. Our farm will be an inviting space for education, creation, and new ideas. We want to showcase the many benefits of sustainable agriculture in partnership with a healthy ecosystem that promotes a thriving community.
