Past and present farming experience:

We are beginning farmers/homesteaders and would welcome guidance from the existing owners of any farm we might consider purchasing. We have both been vegetable gardeners for years. Rachel has taken a Permaculture Design Course and we've done some experimenting with permaculture principles in our small yard and hope to create a more extensive food forest when we finally have the space to do so. We have raised chickens and worked on several small farms with goats, sheep, pigs, and chickens through WWOOF, also gaining insights and further developing our vegetable gardening, perennial fruit and herb knowledge.

As for the previous two questions, we will need some kind of living structure, but are open to renovating an existing barn or shed. Same with greenhouses and barns/sheds: if it is there, wonderful, but otherwise we will build. Dave has some carpentry experience.

Here is a summary of the vision for my farming future and/or business plan:

Our long term plan is to establish a homestead on which we produce most of our food as well as products to barter and sell. Primary Goals Include:
- set up annual vegetable beds
- establish food forest to include fruit trees, perennial herbs/berries/vegetables, bee forage, etc.
- set up beehives to produce honey for sale and personal use
- set up cultivated mushroom logs for sale and personal use
- raise chickens for meat and egg sale and personal use
- raise ducks for meat and egg sale and personal use (water availability permitting)
- raise pigs for pork sale and personal consumption (also to make best use of food and garden waste)
