The Fletcher family is new to farming but we have experience fishing and lobstering. We have always dreamed of having a livestock farm and starting a young family that is well grounded and submerged in the outdoors.
We love the idea of being self sustainable and one day maybe even having a small farm to table cafe so we can share and encourage others to familiarize themselves with nature too.

I have been farming for 7 years on a variety of organic farms. My most recent position was managing a 4 acre diversified vegetable operation with a 140 member CSA. Before that I spent multiple years focusing on livestock management and hope to find a farm where I can integrate livestock in with annual vegetables and orchards.

I am passionate about building healthy soils and believe in the importance of regenerative farming practices to improve the land so that it will continue to be resilient and productive for generations to come.

Good Day- My wife and I are 9-5'ers living in Boston and just expanded our family by 1 (a boy!) this past April. We are looking to move to a smaller, more family based community and have been looking on New England Farm Finder for the past year. Our current farming experience is limited but we have been stewards of our community garden here in Boston for many years along with being coordinators of the South West Corridor Park's Blackwood/Claremont Garen.. We are open to a variety of options if the opportunity is right but ideally would like to settle in the South coast area.

Seeker(s) past and/or present farming experience:

I am just finishing a 5 year stretch working as a manager for Holly Hill Farm, a 2 acre organic vegetable farm in Cohasset, Massachusetts. Living on site, I helped manage their 140 wooded acres, mowing field edges and processing firewood. Myself and a crew of about 3 seasonal workers grew the farming business to 100K/yr in vegetable sales building several greenhouses and making other infrastructural improvements. In coordination with a non-profit education component, the farm was a great place for the whole community to visit for school group tours, farm to table dinners, plant sales, and workshops as well as the farm store on site. In addition to my most recent farming experience, I worked for 2 yrs at Urban Oaks Organic Farm, and have 6 years of experience as a Special Educator in various high schools prior in Connecticut, where I am originally from. It is my hope to settle down in Maine and start a vegetable growing operation of my own. The farming community has been very welcoming to me so far. I've been able to connect with several small farm owners who have shared with me their start-up experiences and suggested that I make this profile and try to connect with folks here. I am currently working for a property management company and for the Census in Portland, ME while I use this year to focus on my search for potential farmland. I am lucky enough to have a decent savings with which to get started should I find the right opportunity. Thank you to whomever is reading this for participating at whatever your capacity to make this a great resource to keep growers growing and land protected. I have 5 years experience with chickens and 1 year experience with alpacas. I ran an under the table egg business consisting of about 20 hens at any given time during high school, and occasionally helped out at the now defunct alpaca farm that was our neighbors. I have something of a mentor sheep-wise in Hawthorne and Thistle farms, and will be taking MOFGA classes once I purchase a car(which if all goes well will be 1/17/2020). In bullet points I have experience:

•maintaining a clean and healthy enviorment
•waking early to feed and water
•continous ice breaking in winter
•body inspections, including teeth and hooves
•lifting live animals up to 100 lbs
•moving circular bales without machinery(with help, of course)
•beak and talon trimming, washing, and other show prep
•humane culling of genetically incompatible with life birds
•humane slaughter for meat(have only done this once)
•processing wool, both sheep and alpaca, from fresh sheared fleece to yarn

Robin currently does not have farming experience but he's smart, a fast learner, stubborn, and really wants to do this, more than anything.

Honesty we are just looking to live our lives out in peace on a farm. I grew up with farm animals I was a vet tech some years ago. I now am an EMT/FF That has seen too many heartbreaks on the job, and ready to live off the land with my retired husband who receives a pension from the painters union. He has built many of the hotels and establishments in the Boston area. We just want a beautiful piece of land to call home. Saving animals from shelters, or that need a forever home, or just are senior pets that no one wants any more.

From there I worked on an 18 acre farm that served a 250 person CSA and local restaurants. After 2 seasons at that farm I managed a 3 acre CSA farm serving 140 CSA Members and an onsite farm stand. This year I have moved from my home Long Island, NY to Maine to Co-manage Frith Farm in Scarborough.

We are a husband and wife medical cannabis cultivators- stuck in limbo by Maine local municipalities general reluctance to embrace the fastest growing job producer in the world- cannabis. We have 15 years experience cultivating cannabis from seed to finished, cured harvest. We are looking for a farm to grow a Tier IV Recreational Cannabis Cultivation Facility, totaling 20,000 square feet of plant canopy. This translates to somewhere around 1000 plants. We grow in small raised beds and provide all material components of the farm ourselves, including the boxes and dirt. We are willing to pay a monthly rent or include the farm owners on a higher payout after harvest or even a flat out purchase. The caveat here is that of 400 municipalities statewide, only a handful have opted into allowing cannabis cultivation. We can't initiate the cultivation license request in a community we don't live in and can't go buying land in a community that won't commit to opting in. Our own home town is refusing outdoor growing (can you even imagine that?- this is the driver of our exodus from Windham) We are trying to stay within a commutable distance from Portland so I can keep my day work until harvest time and hire help for the assistance needed farming.
