This land is the remaining parcels of the former Hartshorn Farm in Morrill, Maine, first cultivated in the early 1900's. Though it has been dormant for the past 3-4 years, the land was most recently farmed as Long Shadow Farm, a certified organic mixed vegetable CSA operation. It's new owners are now exploring the possibility of another farmer to continue it's cultivation and are open to any number of proposals, from short-term lease options to creative partnerships. The land is comprised of two pasture areas with good southern exposure, each about 3-4 acres, bordered and separated by stone walls and wooded areas. Located in beautiful Waldo County, six miles from the center of Belfast, home to a thriving farming/small-ag community. Many farmers markets and local-food-focused restaurants nearby.
There is no infrastructure on this land at the moment e.g. well, electric, greenhouse, fencing; but the current owners are open to the addition of these amenities to make your project work!
Since the current owners long-term plans include building a personal residence on this property, close co-operation will be key in the development of any farming project, but are eager to see a creative vision realized on this beautiful spot.
