Past and present farming experience:

I have no farming experience. I have however, grown vegetables, cut hardwoods and landscaped. I am looking for an organic farm with a minimum of ten acres. I would like to be near a town with a food distribution center for the needy as I will be donating most of what I produce.

My timetable is to visit Maine this summer (I travel there every year) and look at potential properties. I am familiar with the area. I have a graduate degree from St. Joseph's in Standish. I am currently a teacher, and would probably continue to teach part time. I also have over 40 years experience in business management.

Here is a summary of the vision for my farming future and/or business plan:

Very simple. It is called "The Benedict Option." Named after St. Benedict who founded the Benedictine order of monks. Their motto is "Ora et Labora" (Prayer and work). The idea is to live a simple life. Using only what you need and giving the rest to those in need. The name of the farm will be "Rerum Novarum" after the papal encyclical written by Pope Leo XIII in 1891.
