I grew up on a small, diversified farm in Maryland, and learned much about animals and life through 4-H. I attended University of Maine in Orono, where I received my BS in Animal Science, and learned some about the alternative farming methods of organic and sustainable farming. I was passed down the heritage of a sheep rancher from my father's side, and a dairy farmer's daughter from my mothers side, and my goal is to incorporate my heritage as well as my learning into a sustainable, natural sheep dairy. I currently own 10 sheep, 5 of which I have milked this summer. My skills are in handling sheep, pasture rotation, breeding management, financial planning, and living on a shoe string. I am currently employed outside of the farm, but the busy time of year is in the winter, which works out perfect for managing my flock. I also run a small sheep shearing and farrier business, which has been successful. I am searching for a permanent place to live and farm. I would like to buy, rent to own, or possibly lease a piece of property that has a house and some kind of shelter for animals. it does not have to be fancy, but it does have to be affordable. I am a very hard worker and can give references.

My goal is to have 50 head of adult sheep on a sustainable, pasture rotational grazing plan. I hope to produce 3 lamb crops every 2 years, and have a continual milking flock of no less than 25 ewes. My marketable product will be lamb meat, wool fiber, breeding stock, and milk. I plan to use as little commercial machinery as possible, relying on manpower and sustainable practices to accomplish my goals.
