Past and present farming experience:

I have around 8 years of on/off experience in sustainable, small scale farming and gardening. In 08 or 09, I worked as an intern on a small farm on Roque Island in Maine, helping to manage the vegetable garden as well as caring for horses, cows, sheep and chickens. After that I worked on a small farm in Northwest Connecticut, caring for cattle, sheep & goats. After that, I planned on attending the Farm School in west/central MA, but life had other plans for me, and I have a family now instead! Since then my work and study in sustainable agriculture has shifted to compensate for being a mother of 3 young kids. Our family keeps a small herd of Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats, and we raise chickens for meat and eggs. I am an herbalist and grow herbs as well as wild-harvesting. I have experience raising rabbits for meat, and am an amateur beekeeper in my 2nd year. I keep a vegetable garden for our family, and am gaining proficiency in canning and preserving food. I attended a waldorf school growing up, and have an interest in biodynamic agriculture. I am interested in attaining skills to homestead or farm without reliance on fossil fuels - some areas of current interest/study include: sustainable home heating, rocket mass heaters, sustainable cooking, cob building and earthen ovens, low-impact growing season extension methods, herbal medicine, and much more!

Here is a summary of the vision for my farming future and/or business plan:

We do not have a concrete business plan, as the property would dictate what we would be able to do, and where we would thrive. Ideas include:
- Low-Tech Market Gardening & Animal husbandry for CSA, Farmers Markets, or value-added products.
- Wilderness school or sustainability education program.
- Subsistence farming & pioneering/promoting local trade economy programs
