I grew up on a small farm. I have grown a vegetable garden every year of my adult life. I started saving seed a few years ago and am expanding the variety of seeds that I save each year. I have always had a natural way with working with animals in a calm quite manner.

Both myself and my significant other, graduated from the University of Maine in 2011 with Bachelor Degrees in Animal Science. I also graduated with a minor in Equine Studies and Jon graduated with a minor in Aquaculture.
Jon worked for about 2 years with Genex as a cow breeder and we also worked at the University farm.
I worked for the University farm, interned at Cornerstone Farm in Palmyra for 4-5 months in 2010. In 2011-2012 I worked on a 100+ milking head herd in upstate New York where I assisted with milking, performed milking solo and assisted with medical procedures.
At this time I am licensed as a veterinary technician in the state of Maine.
Jon will occasionally still breed cows on the side and will assist Smiling Hill Farm when able. We own a flock of chickens at this time, including show Bantam Cochin's.

She developed and cultivated a permacultre-inspired homestead garden, including perennial plantings and orchards, in addition to managing a variety of livestock, including poultry, dairy goats, and meat rabbits. In 2013 she was accepted into the MOFGA Journeyperson program and began a cut flower operation on a 1/4 acre of leased land in Hancock, selling primarily to wholesale accounts.

I am the owner/operator of Fuzzy Udder Creamery in Unity Maine. I have been making cheese for over seven years. The first five years I worked as one of the primary cheese makers at Appleton Creamery in Appleton. I make a variety of fresh and aged cheeses from both sheep and cow's milk that I buy from nearby farms. I currently co-market my cheeses and yogurt with vegetables and meat from South Paw Farm at 5 farmer's markets across the state as well as numerous wholesale accounts. We've out grown the space available for us at South Paw Farm and are looking for room to grow. My partner Isaac is welder fabricator studying machining at Kennebec Valley Community College. He has plans to set up a metal shop and expand his welding business. We have a small herd of goats and sheep that live with a Great Pyrenees guard dog as well as two young horses.
